The Jateshwar Mahadev Temple is an ancient temple is famously known as the Shiv Mandir located in the village of Jatwahar. It was then built by one of the residents named Jai Dayal Sharma from the village and was built on an earlier and old temples site. The carved pillars made of sandstone adds to the beauty of this temple built in the 10th -11th century. One can see devotees thronging the temple from whole of Punjab and one can also see devotees coming from Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.
Mondays being the most crowded on the sawan months, the Shivratri fair is the highlight of this festival. This temple is famously known as the Shiv Mandir Jatwahar and hails from ancient times of the Mahabharata. It is located on the Rupnagar-Nurpur Bedi road and is at a distance of 5 kms from village Bains. The crowd mostly visits this temple during the auspicious month of sawan where the devotees make it a point to seek blessings of the deity in the month of July and August.
Also, the Shivratri fair is considered to be the most famous and cheerful fair organized in the district at the Jatwahar Village in Nurpur Bedi. The airport in Chandigarh is the closest and is at a distance of 50 km from the temple. There is good connectivity to Jaipur, Delhi and Mumbai from the domestic airport at Chandigarh. A taxi can be taken till the city of Rupnagar after reaching the Chandigarh airport and the ride is very comfortable. Buses are -the very common and cheap mode of transport available to reach the temple where government run buses are available that connect to the close by cities. Trains from Himachal Pradesh and Delhi come till the Rupnagar Station and the cost of the ticket from Rupnagar to Delhi is Rs 145 and is considered to be one of the most suitable options.
